The S&P 500 plunged Wednesday amid uncertainty on who is likely to win the battle to control congress in an unexpectedly tight U.S. midterm election, just a day ahead of inflation data that could offer fresh clues on Federal Reserve monetary policy measures.

Bitcoin falls 13.17% in selloff.

Bitcoin was trading at $16,799.4 at 18:22 (18:22 GMT). Down 13.17% on the day. It was the largest one-day percentage loss since June 13.

The move downwards pushed Bitcoin's market cap down to $323.3B, or 38.84% of the total cryptocurrency market cap. At its highest, Bitcoin's market cap was $1,275.5B.
